A different take on fairies
I tend to draw a lot of fairies in my sketchbooks and elsewhere for fun. Earlier this year I had an idea about fairies as young women full of angst.
To make them relatable, I decided they would not have more extreme creature-like designs, rather, they would be simply tiny humans with wings. I spent time working on acting, posing, anatomy, slight stylization, and themes. I also created a simple rule, that the backgrounds would always be white and that they could have one natural element or prop.
The goal was to create a series of images that had a similar attitude while all being different. The summer is over now and I have other projects in the works, but I may design a few more before the end of the year. They are really fun to work out!
